September 18: Day of Communal Prayer and Action to Scrap 12% VAT
The growing clamor to scrap the 12% Value Added Tax (VAT) is just,
doable and will benefit a great number ofespecially the
poor who comprises the majority of the country's populace. But
President Arroyo has categorically stated its opposition to the calls
to scrap VAT. Clearly, a comprehensive campaign and as many activities
possible must be made to gather broadest public support, and pressure
the congress to pass a law and the executive branch to give in to
scrap VAT.
We are inviting you to a Day of Communal Prayer and Action on
September 18, 2008, Thursday, 2-6pm at the Mehan Garden (beside Manila City Hall).
There will be prayers and messages from Most Reverend Bishops
Broderick Pabillo, Antonio Tobias and Deogracias Iñiguez. There will
also be cultural presentations from various student, community and
church youth cultural organizations.
We hope that you may be able to attend and send a delegation to this event.
